Sequins are tiny pieces of plastic or metal available in variety of colours and shapes. These are added to apparels like wedding gowns, party dresses and premium sarees to add a sparkle and glitz to the garment. The sequins are attached using age-old techniques of hand stitching or weaving. Hand stitched sequins are added at a later stage once the fabric is dyed and printed. Whereas the sequin weaving is done at the time when the fabric is woven. It is a very labour intensive work due to the tiny size of the sequins. Many a times sequins are mixed with embroidery to enhance the look even further.
